Estimate Overview

April 3rd, 2007

One of Cashboard’s main features is the ability to send estimates to potential clients. If you’re like us, you’re always getting asked to quote how much a potential project will cost.

Creating an Estimate

Estimates can be created for companies that exist, companies you have in Basecamp, or new companies. Cashboard makes it all easy.

Creating an estimate

You can also specify that an estimate requires agreement. If you do this, no work may be started for that estimate’s project until your client has logged into Cashboard and indicated their agreement.

This is great for those times when you specify estimate terms – such as requiring a down payment for work to be started.

Estimate items

Creating tasks couldn’t be easier. There are no page reloads. Cashboard is an advanced web application that behaves like a desktop app.

Editing estimate items. Flat fee, hourly based, products, tasks, or other.

Cashboard allows you to estimate time the way you want to. Be it by hours, flat fee, with products, or even for any unit you can dream up.

Beautiful Documents

With Cashboard, you aren’t stuck with any default look for your Estimates. Fully customize the look of your estimates with your own brand guidelines.

We haven’t forgotten those of you who still need hard copies either. View a print preview at any time – and print out estimates from PDF files. What you see is what you get.

Store these in your files, or snail mail them to your clients. Cashboard lets you work how you want.

Listing Estimates

Listing active and closed estimates

Listing estimates gives you a simple overview to let you know what’s going on with each of your potential projects.

When you first start with Cashboard, the system is smart enough to display all of your estimates. When you reach 10 estimates in the system, the display will shift to a tab-view, only showing you the estimates that you need to access.

As with projects, estimates may be archived or “closed” when they are no longer useful. Conversely, they may be activated again when needed.

Sending Estimates

Your clients may not see an estimate until it has been sent to them. Work on it at your leisure and send it when you’re ready.

Better yet, we don’t force you to create a contact before you send a document to someone. We worry about workflow and sweat the small stuff. That’s what makes us better than the rest.
